Now in Its 10th year, The Jozi Film Festival (JFF) is Johannesburg’s longest running multi-genre film festival. As a venue since the festival’s inception, The JFF has always been a highlight in The Bioscope’s calendar. This year is no different, with special physical screenings taking place at The Bioscope between 1-3 October.

SYNOPSIS

1 OCT 6pm DISPLACED BOOK NOW.  An artist explores in her work the nature of the traumatic experience of the loss of a home. Rooted in the personal experience of displacement she has suffered herself, her work resonates in her own country with its history of forced removals and around the world in an age when record numbers of people have been forcibly displaced by conflict, violence and human rights violations. World Premiere.

1 OCT 8pm THE INESCAPABLE BOOK NOWA short film, part drama, part horror, and part fantasy exploring ideas of friendship, honour, and betrayal, both at a personal and communal level. The effects of one’s conscience on one’s self and one’s clan are investigated as part of the characters’ drama. The film follows two Afrikaans prospectors seeking their fortune at the height of the Second Boer War, but what they find goes beyond the horrors of war.
